The Greek restaurant Stepho's, which is just down the street, is much more popular than Taki's, but in my opinion Taki's is far superior. I know Stepho's is really cheap and they give you a ton of food but Taki's is by no means expensive and the quality of the food is much better. Take my advice and avoid the long lines at Stepho's for a seat at Taki's. Read more

I had been recommended to go to Stephos for the longest time and each time we tried having food the line up was long so we decided to go back later. A friend of mine recommended me to go between 1-5pm so I didn’t have to wait in the line up. I must say that I had never had such great service and delicious Souvlaki in Vancouver. We tried the Lamp Chops, the Calamari Dinner, Humus and the Lamp Souvlaki amongst the 4 of us. The price is great and the food really fantastic. I recommend this place to everyone and trust me it’s worth a wait in the line up to try this place. Read more

Maria's is a Kitsilano institution. The atmosphere is everything you would expect a Greek restaurant to offer complete with pictures of Greek scenery adorning the walls. The food is really good and even my wife who is not the biggest fan of Greek food loves the food at Maria's. I usually have what I had on our most recent visit...one of the souvlaki dinners. Our most recent trip I had chicken souvlaki and the chicken was perfectly tender and the potatoes and rice were great too. Next time you have a hankering for Greek food visit Maria's Taverna on 4th! There were 18 of us for a family birthday party, and included 3 very young children. The staff was very friendly and offered information and suggestions to help us with our food choices. Everyone's meal was excellent and the kids were entertained with their colouring placemats. This is the third time this large group has celebrated a birthday here and we keep going back. If we can't get a reservation on the day of the birthday, we postpone until we can. We have also been several times as small family groups of 3 or 4, or as couples. We've been during the week and on weekends. It never matters when, the service, the food, the ambiance is always perfect. This is absolutely the best restaurant in Penticton. Read more
