Live jazz, great wine, wonderful meal... Need I say more? We got a table upstairs, next to the band. Usually, you'd want to keep a distance, but this was wonderful. The singer was great. The wine selection was varied. The meal was very well done. The lamb was as good as they promised (which is not always the case at all restaurants) Our server was lovely and very accommodating. They did charge us an extra $8 for splitting the lamb-chops between the kids. If I am paying $220 for my meal, I don't expect that. Still, it did not affect the beautiful evening we had. Read more

The entrance is hidden and small. You take the stairs up and open an old wooden door to enter a beautiful and elegant old-fashioned dining room. Live guitar plays intermittently in the background with some Portuguese songs. We left our wine and food choices to our waiter, and we were not disappointed. The bottle of Portuguese Dona Maria was quite flavourful and fresh. The potato and kale soupe was just lovely. The seafood platter (which must be the Portuguese version of the paella) was very generous with everything from a whole lobster to mussels. While not spicy, it had no fishy smell to it at all. My wife is trying to cure me of the habit of ordering a dish just because I don't know what it is or I have never had it before. More often then not it turns out to be a disappointment. Tonight I ordered the bavette (flank) steak. It was just okay for me as it is a tougher cut of beef, but that's my fault.
