This place was bustling on the beautiful sunny day we headed over, and I now know why. Everything about this place was great! The server was smiley and took great care to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The food was fresh and tasty, and sitting outside in the fresh air with the lovely park and lake view was unbeatable. The french fries are so good, they don't need ketchup! We were staying in Kingston at the Holiday Inn and decided to use the in hotel restaurant. It was a pleasant experience and we were seated beside a window, so we got to see the lake. It started to get fairly busy, but wasn't loud at all. There was a menu, but we both decided to try the buffet. The food was decent with a lot to choose from - I may have had more than I needed to. The wine selection was standard, nothing spectacular. Our server (I forget her name) was quite attentive and very engaging. Will definately try again if we decide to visit Kingston. Read more

I've been to Darbar twice. The first time I had the lunch special with a beef curry (don't recall exactly what kind), and thought that it was bland, uninteresting, and it had no heat at all, surprising because I ordered it "hot" The second time I was invited to dinner with a visiting relative. I was reluctant to agree to this restaurant due to my previous experience, but we went nonetheless. This time, I ordered the lamb dansak, and was completely blown away. It was definitely among the best dishes I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The flavour was bold and complex but balanced, and with enough heat to make the dish exciting to eat. I had a taste of the other dishes at the table, which ranged from good to so-so, but my order was truly excellent. Both times, the service was prompt and polite, and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive. If all of the dishes on the menu were comparable to my last visit, I would not hesitate to give Darbar five stars for food. Unfortunately, many items are underperformers. Overall, if you didn't like Darbar, it's worth another shot - you probably just ordered the wrong item the first time. Read more

I have been going to Dolce Bella for 3 years, and must say they consistently offer very exceptional service. As a rock climber, my back is often kinked or sore. For this reason I go to Dolce Bella primarily for their massages. Laurie is great, and remembers which areas I usually have the most problems with. I always leave feeling extremely relaxed and relieved. Last week I had a wedding to attend, and therefore had a mani and a pedi done. They were very gentle yet effective. Being a climber I have many calluses on my hands, and the scrubs and treatments the esthetician used on me left them feeling soft and hydrated. In my opinion, Dolce Bella is one of the best spas in Kingston, I would definitely recommend them. Read more
