Librairie Espagnole, too often pigeonholed by its classic name, offers so much more than books these days. “It started in 1964 with my late-husband’s father as a Spanish bookstore, but over the years, it’s undeniably evolved,” says Maritxin Iglesias, owner and operator of this legacy establishment. “We have exclusivity with many of the products we import, and distributing them throughout Canada and North America to retailers and though our online storefront has assured that most people know we don’t just do books, though we still love them!”

Full of Spanish and South American products like meats, cold cuts, cheese, Yerba Mate, Turron and Dolce de Leche, as well as handmade apparel and other products, the evolution of Librairie Espagnole has been clear with the waves of Spanish-speaking people who have come to Montreal and Canada over the years.

“At first we carried only products from Spain, but as the decades wore on, we saw different waves of people come with a need to stay connected to their roots," says Maritxin. "We’re an exclusive importer for many goods, so it’s an incredible feeling to see how we make people at home no matter how far from home they may be.”

    Un indispensable pour les Hispaniques de Montréal!

    La libreria espanola est situé sur la rue st-laurent. Vous y retrouverez tout les livres hispaniques de tout les pays hispanophones, en partant de Pablo Neruda passant par Juan Rodríguez Freyle ou Miguel de Cervantes. Vous y trouverez tout ce que vous cherchez. Déjà bien connu par la communauté latine elle est une des meilleures librairies a montreal.
